Happy New Year from KSOL! As we start 2024, it is the perfect time for new beginnings and setting goals. That’s why our team here at KSOL have created some New Year’s resolutions to help your child navigate through the 11+ process in 2024, to ensure they are best prepared for September’s exam.
1. Speak to one of our KSOL tutors to ensure regular practice - Aim for consistent, short daily sessions of 20-30 minutes. Consistency is key for retention. When enrolling onto one of our KSOL online programmes, our daily personalised tests take approximately 25 minutes per day, keeping children engaged! One of our qualified teachers will also be allocated specifically to your child, to oversee your child's 11+ programme.
2. Set a study schedule - Allocate specific times for study to build a routine, whether this or before school or after school. Visit our website on Friday 12th January for our updated study schedule!
3. Incorporate learning in daily activities - Utilise everyday situations to practice key 11+ skills. For example, have your child organise timings, prices and discounts on family trips, or have conversations about the scenery around them to develop vocabulary.
4. Expand Vocabulary- Make it a goal to learn new words weekly, as a robust vocabulary can significantly help in comprehension tasks and verbal reasoning. Visit our blog post, which includes essential vocabulary for your child!
5. Book a Mock Exam- Regularly participating in KSOL mock exams will familiarise your child with the 11+ format and question types. An authentic exam environment will reduce nerves and build confidence!
6. Have a balance- Balance is key. Ensure your child has a balanced routine with time for study, play, and rest. You want to ensure your child isn’t overwhelmed, to avoid burnout and decreased productivity.
