11+ Workshops - February Half Term - Light Hall School, Shirley, Solihull

We are excited to now take bookings for our February half-term 11 Plus Workshops, for Year 5 children. Your child now has the opportunity to tackle challenging 11+ topics that children generally struggle with at this point in the year. 

At KSOL, we are passionate about creating an exciting learning environment where your child will boost confidence and deepen their understanding of essential 11+ skills. They can work alongside our team of qualified teachers as well as their peers, asking questions and actively participating in fun and engaging 2-hour teaching sessions at our teaching centre in Shirley (Solihull).
 

Please be aware that any workshops listed below with the same topic names are repeated.

Workshop 1 - 9:30am to 11:30am

Fractions

Fractions can be presented in a number of ways within the GL Assessment 11+ Exam. It is crucial that your child is equipped with the understanding of how to reach an answer in an efficient way. This workshop will tackle adding, multiplying, dividing and converting fractions all within exam style questions. Oftentimes, children lose marks at the final stages of these calculations. Let us show you how to avoid these mistakes!

Workshop 2 - 12pm to 2pm

Percentages

Percentages is a topic that, oftentimes, children miss out on available marks. Not because they are unsure of the concept, but because they have not understood exactly what is required of them. Finding a value from a percentage; finding a percentage from a value; percentage increase and percentage decrease can all be presented in a number of ways. Ensure your child is confident and aware of how to tackle this topic.

Comprehension does not just test your child’s understanding of the subject of a text. Vocabulary, inference, information retrieval and reading at a good pace all come into play. We can help to ensure your child understands exactly how to approach the comprehension to maximise their marks in this workshop.

Verbal Reasoning

A plethora of topics can be presented in Verbal Reasoning and this workshop will ensure your child is equipped with their ‘verbal tool kit’. Verbal Reasoning can be somewhat planned out prior to entering into the exam hall – book the workshop to find out how!

Workshop 5 - 12pm to 2pm

Non-Verbal Reasoning

The GL Assessment exam quizzes the children on both non-verbal reasoning as well as spatial reasoning, meaning your child needs to be aware of a large array of topics. Pencil to paper techniques are your child’s ticket to successful time management and accuracy. Let us show you what this entails and how to improve!

Workshop 6 - 2:30pm to 4:30pm

Problem Solving

Problem Solving usually makes up a large amount of the 11+ exam, meaning a solid understanding of how to approach these questions types is crucial. The wording of maths questions can alter the way in which they are approached. We can equip your child with the techniques needed to approach these questions with confidence, securing all available marks.

When are they available?

  • During School Holidays - February Half Term

Our 11 plus workshops are fun, engaging and dynamic! Our tutors will revise key areas with the children and then put their knowledge into practice with a variety of activities and 11 plus questions, working alongside their peers and with our enthusiastic teachers.

Please note that if your child is booked on more than one workshop on the same day, they will need a packed lunch, drinks and snacks to have in the 30 minute interval in between workshops. They will only require collecting at the end of their last assigned workshop.

If your child is NOT booked on consecutive workshops, you will need to collect them at the end of their assigned workshop. If further workshops are booked later on in the day, you will need to return at the assigned start time.

At KSOL, we value child safety above all else. For this reason, all our staff members are fully trained in Child Protection & Safeguarding. We have ensured that full procedures are in place to ensure your child is welcomed into a safe learning environment.

Terms and Conditions

Cancellation Notice Period: 2 weeks before the day of assigned workshop. Refund Policy: Cancellations made within 2 weeks of the assigned workshop start date will NOT be issued a refund.
