KSOL's Monthly Study Schedule – January and February

Study Schedule

As we welcome 2024, the arrival of September and the 11+ entrance exam seems just around the corner. As parents ourselves who have gone through this process, we understand the importance of this stepping stone in your child’s educational journey. To help you plan ahead for this busy year, our tutors have created a revision schedule for the upcoming months, providing a balance between study and play!

Check out our plans for January and February below, and keep your eyes peeled for our bi-monthly updates coming your way.

January Icon

January: Game on!

Your child may consider setting resolutions for the year ahead and what their goals are for the upcoming months. Is it to become more organised with their revision notes? To become a more confident reader? Consider the steps needed to make this happen, like creating a revision folder, or reading a chapter a night before bed, and implement these goals into their schedule. This will benefit them in the future, as they will be able to utilise their notes throughout the Summer.

February Icon

February: Strong foundations build a solid home

Think of the 11+ exam as your dream house. It is important the foundations are established in order to achieve your desired outcome. By February, we encourage children to be comfortable with their foundation skills, such as timetables and multiplication and division, and adding and subtracting fractions. These are the building blocks to achieve 11+ success.

We also recommend for children to know the necessary techniques for the comprehension element of the exam, as well as the NVR checklist. For further help and support, this month we will be offering KSOL LIVE sessions and in-person workshops during the half-term. Further details will follow so keep an eye out!

During this month you should receive the results from our first Mock Exam of the year: 20th January in Shirley or 3rd February in Aylesbury. This is a crucial time to benchmark your child’s progress and note down key areas of focus.

Family Planning

Remember, your child’s individual study schedule may need customisation based on school commitments, key areas requiring extra focus and other extracurricular activities. It is essential to maintain a balance between study and play to manage stress levels and retain motivation!

Here at KSOL, we aim to keep children engaged and ensure they are not overwhelmed by the process. With our Year 5 Online Courses, our daily tests take about 25-30 minutes per day, establishing a solid routine. Click here for more information!
