Non-verbal reasoning (NVR) is an 11 plus subject which is not typically covered within the school curriculum. Therefore, children may find this topic challenging to begin with. The key here is to ensure your child practices regularly, learning the correct methods of how to approach each question.
NVR questions are designed to test a child's spatial awareness and ability to solve problems using logical reasoning. A typical non-verbal reasoning question will involve the manipulation of shapes or images whereby your child will be asked to identify rotations, mirror images, complete sequences and much more.
As different education authorities have the power to determine which disciplines and individual topics are included in their 11+ entrance exam, the tests may vary across the country. However, examples of 11 plus non-verbal reasoning questions might include:
