About Beths Grammar School:

Beths Grammar School is a selective academy exclusively for boys that specialises in modern languages.  

Year 7 admissions open on 15th May 2023, offering 192 places. The Bexley Selection Test is the chosen exam format, with the date falling between 9th–14th September 2023. Results are age-standardised and the top 180 scoring children are considered for placement.

Beths Grammar utilises the same entrance examination as the three other schools in the London Borough of Bexley, namely Bexley Grammar School, Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar and Townley Grammar School. As a result, your child only has to sit for a single examination, referred to as the Bexley Selection Test, to be considered for admission to any of these schools.

Please note that Beths Grammar may not guarantee admission based on test scores alone due to high demand and limited seats. Factors considered for admission into Beths Grammar School are ordered as follows:

1. Looked-after children

2. Children who rank among the top 180 performers in the Selection Test

3. Children who have a sibling currently attending the school

4. Children whose parent has been a member of the school's staff for at least two years

5. Twelve spots are reserved for boys who receive free school meals, prioritised by the proximity of their residence to the school.
6. Selection is based on the straight-line distance from a boy's home to the east entrance of Beths Grammar School on Hartford Road, with those living closer given priority. In the event of identical distances, the boy's Selection Test scores are used to break the tie.

7. Boys who have successfully completed a grammar school test in Kent or any other jurisdiction bordering Bexley.
