KSOL Monthly Study Schedule – March and April

Boy online tuition

Following our study schedule released in the New Year, we are excited to share with you our study plans for the upcoming months: March and April. As Spring commences, the 11 plus grammar school entrance exam is fast approaching, and you may be unsure how best to prepare for the months ahead.

That’s why we have created a structured approach to ensure your child is on track. Check out our plans below, and continue to keep your eyes peeled for more monthly updates.

March: Step into Spring

-March is the start of Spring and marks a fresh start. Children should be ‘clearing out’ and filing away properly the notes they need. This will refresh your child’s mind with a positive mental attitude ahead of a more intensive summer of preparation.

-As the sunshine starts to come out and the Easter Holidays commence, we suggest going on more regular family walks between revision and play to ensure they are both physically and mentally active.

-Expand your child’s vocabulary with seasonal words. We can suggest blossom, renewal, thrive and nurture. If you haven’t created a vocabulary book already, to note down any complex words your child may not have come across.

April: Consolidation and practice

-Utilise the Easter Holidays to revise all of the topics covered so far.

-We recommend revising the following: NVR Spatial Reasoning, figure analysis and hidden shapes, and Maths: Converting between fractions and percentages and ratios.

-April also provides time to reflect. If your child has sat a couple of Mock Exams with us by now, analyse whether progress has been made. Have they improved in particular topic areas that they struggled with before?

-April marks the start of our creative writing course. For children hoping to gain entry into an independent school, our 12-week course provides them with the writing skills needed to succeed.

Remember, your child’s individual study schedule may need customisation based on school commitments, key areas requiring extra focus and other extracurricular activities. It is essential to maintain a balance between study and play to manage stress levels and retain motivation!

Here at Key Stages Online, we aim to keep children engaged and ensure they are not overwhelmed by the process. With our Year 5 Online Courses, our daily tests take about 25-30 minutes per day, establishing a solid routine. Click here for more information!
