If you are looking for your child to gain a space at a Warwickshire grammar school, you will need to register your child for the 11+ entrance exam. Registration for the 11 plus entrance exam can be completed by following this link. If you do not complete and return this form before the deadline, you may only be able to sit the exam as a late sitter which can significantly affect your child’s chances of gaining a place in a grammar school.

The test is set by the GL Assessment Board.

Warwickshire uses priority catchment areas as part of their admission criteria. These are split into two sections, the ‘South’ and ‘East’ priority circle. Each catchment area has its own admission arrangements, so it is important to consider how this may affect your application. If your child resides outside of the catchment area you can still apply to a Warwickshire grammar school.

The ‘South’ priority circle includes:

- Alcester Grammar School (co-ed)

- King Edward VI School (Boys)

 - Stratford-upon-Avon Grammar School (Girls)

The ‘East’ priority circle includes:

- Ashlawn School (Bilateral)

- Lawrence Sherriff School (Boys)

- Rugby High School (Girls)

For a map of the Warwickshire grammar school priority circles and overlap information, click this link.

Living within a Warwickshire priority circle does not automatically guarantee your child a space. However, those who achieve the required qualifying scores and reside within the priority area will be considered first. If your child resides outside of the catchment area you can still apply to a Warwickshire grammar school.

In order to succeed in the 11 plus exam, preparation is key to building the necessary skills and confidence. Questions covered in the 11 plus test require an in-depth knowledge of various topics, including those that may not be taught at school, e.g. Non-Verbal Reasoning. KSOL’s personalised online courses are suitable for all types of 11+ entrance exams and are completed by children across the country, to help them prepare. Whatever their needs, we will tailor your child's course to tackle weaker areas head on!

KSOL recommend that parents visit the individual school website or call the Warwickshire schools admissions service for the specific entry requirements to each of the schools listed in the Warwickshire Grammar School Directory below. This will help when considering which schools to include on your child’s Local Authority School Preference Form. The deadline to complete this form is the 31st October.
